As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to disrupt the schooling of children, CAPE-NM recognized an acute need to promote the benefits of homeschooling in New Mexico.
In December of 2020, CAPE-NM applied for and was issued a grant by the Homeschool Community Foundation to develop a series of radio segments in conjunction with Family Life Radio.
The radio segments reached a population service area of 1,334,565. Within the first 30 days of the initiative, CAPE-NM saw a direct increase in families seeking additional information to begin homeschooling. With nearly 25 years of experience as an organization, CAPE-NM was poised and ready to support new and veteran homeschoolers alike.
Through this project, CAPE-NM has learned that many families are needing homeschooling information, encouragement, and support.
